James Bond’s License Is To Kill, Not Mill About Yellowstone National Park

Sometimes, going off the beaten path will land you in hot water. That’s what happened to former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan, who recently pleaded guilty to entering an off-limits area in Yellowstone National Park last year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brosnan will pay a $500 fine along with donating $1,000 to a nonprofit called Yellowstone Forever. The former 007 apparently left a trail in a thermal area this past November and shared photos of being in the off-limits area on social media. On Instagram, Brosnan expressed “deep regret” for the incident. “As an environmentalist, I have the utmost respect for and love of our natural world. However, I made an impulsive mistake–one that I do not take lightly–when entering a thermal area covered in snow in Yellowstone National Park to take a photograph.”

Brosnan is arguably best known for portraying Bond across four films, starting with GoldenEye in 1995 and ending with Die Another Day in 2002. But the actor has also appeared in notable movies like Mrs. Doubtfire, The Thomas Crown Affair, and Mamma Mia.

Earlier this month, Brosnan talked about Cillian Murphy hypothetically taking over the role of Bond going forward. He said the Oppenheimer actor, who’s fresh off an Oscar win, would “do a magnificent job” as the British secret agent. There is an ongoing search for the role after Daniel Craig’s five-movie run as the iconic spy.

In the meantime, Hitman developer IO is working on a James Bond game. Also, check out GameSpot’s brief history of Bond video games.
